I really like this image I produced when I was experimenting with text.  I will do some more similar pieces using marker pens.rachel114

I have not got that much experience with text so have worked into some of the images with hand lettering.  I have discovered that I find it quite slow  laborious to try and neatly write over a design so am now experimenting with loosely tracing an existing typeface.  I think this suits my style of drawing better and it is just more ‘me’.  The next stage is to try using digital text with the images I have produced.  I have tried to use actually conversations and proverbs related to the images as a basis for the text.rachel1071rachel110

When photocopying the original acetate for the screen printing, I tried layering the two acetates on top of each other and re photocopying them.  The results were completely random as I couldn’t see the image as it was being photocopied so I ended up with some particularly appealing, if slightly scary final images.  I plan to use photoshop to create the same effect but I will be able to change the positioning and colour of the different scanned faces.rachel109rachel1022

After creating my initial drawings I photocopied two of the images onto acetate so I could screen print them on to a variety of papers and in different colours.  Some of the results worked really well and were a suprise as I was just randomly choosing papers and paint.  The colour combination on the tissue paper piece is great and printing onto old lined paper cut to the face shape also worked well.  I experimented with different colours and layering differnt prints on top of each other.
